About VectorDrive
VectorDrive was founded by Charles More and Patrick Quinn. Between 2014 and 2025 they built MyPolicy, a telematics motor insurance broker for young and low-mileage drivers, from less than £1m to over £50m of gross written premium. Patrick was Chief Executive. Charles ran pricing, analytics and IT — the risk models that read driver data and turned it into a price, and the systems the business ran on. Inflexion Private Equity acquired MyPolicy in January 2017 and the business was acquired by The Acorn Group in January 2025.
VectorDrive Ltd was incorporated in 2025 and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA no. 1045341). Registered in England and Wales, company no. 16664896.
Why we built it
Telematics solved a real problem. A seventeen-year-old with no record cannot prove they are careful, and a black box lets them. That was worth building, and we built it.
But the industry took the technology somewhere else. What began as a way for a driver to earn a better price has become a way to gather as much data about them as possible — where they go, when, how hard they brake, how fast they take a corner — and to price them on variables they cannot see, cannot check and cannot argue with. One large insurer has now asked the government to make the box compulsory for every driver aged 17 to 24.
We think there is a simpler business in here. Mileage is the single largest driver of motor risk that a customer actually understands. If you drive 4,000 miles a year, you should not pay as though you drive 12,000. That is one number, it is verifiable from the car itself, and it does not require a device in your dashboard or a record of everywhere you have been.
So VectorDrive verifies mileage and nothing else. No black box. No driving-style score. No location history. One honest number, checked automatically, reflected in the price.
